John, you are good enough if you are experts in playing with AIX and DB2. It is a good idea for you to get some IBM or Sun certificates
(I mean System Admonsitrator certificates).
If you are really a good System Adminstrator and DBA for DB2, you should have a reliable life in Canada.

Don't count on Linux. you can't find a Linux job at present. I don't understand why some new immigrants take Linux seriously. For enterprise production, few people adopt Linux. Of course, Linux will be getting more and more popular. But not now. It is not a bad thing for you to know Linux kernel.



For new immgrants, English is desparately
important.

If you can know sth like Net.commerce,
Net.Data, IBM LDAP, ..., IBM Websphere,
you will be perfect.
