  • 工作学习 / IT杂谈 / Are you over-qualified for this position
    This is a true story.

One Chinese accountant in my area was hired by a company a few years ago. His salary boosted to $75--- this is a gigantic number for accountants. Last, that company was down and he was threw into the job market. He has been idled at home for about 7 months. It is very hard for him to get a new job. Some people suggest he lower his salary requirement to $50K, but it does not work. Here is the reason. Whoever is going to hire him, his backgraound needs to be investigated. In another word, this guy cannot hide his history. Once the employer found that he earned as much as $75K, he is counted as "overqualified".
Because an accountant touches a lot of sensitive corporate information,
the investigation of their background is very strict.
    • I guess he still has two options:
      1. Given his experience and salary history, he can target some management positions in accouting (such as accounting manager). I know many companies will pay $75K or more for a qualifies manager.
      2. Work as a contractor - many companies hire contract accountant for projects (6-12 months). Go www.accountemps.com to find out more.

I agree that somethimes over-qualified experience could be a trouble for mid-career people.
      • How can that happen ? Coz , if one guy ,once , was overqualified , it's not his fault , right ? It is his/her former boss who overqualified him/her . He shouldn't take the panety .
