        在国内时买一个SONY摄像机，平时也不大用，第二盒带还没有录完，就坏了，刚过保修期。拿到SONY维修部，先付300元检查费，修理费、材料费另算。一星期后去取，总算没有零件损坏，只是里面一根线掉了，没有再加钱。旁边另外一个人也修摄像机可就惨了，修理费算算比买一个新的还贵！

        SONY的大部分民用摄像机都在上海索广制造并销往全世界，有些型号已经全部在中国生产。（也就是说，全世界的这个型号都在中国生产）质量方面比马来西亚制造的好。

        关于购买摄像机，我建议你不要在加购买，因为国内的型号比北美的先进，选择也多，（就象手机一样）另外考虑到售后服务的问题，显然在国内购买会更方便一些。我自己的摄像机是公婆在美国买的，是在当地很流行的VHS-C，买回来才发现在中国已很过时，又笨重又贵，而且万一坏了还没法修。后悔得不行，那点钱在国内可以买一个很新潮的DV了。

        另外有朋友提到维修的悲惨经历，如果是第二盒带子还没录完就出事，确实是你的运气不好。维修费是一定要的，就算是我们内部员工也只能打7-8折，零件费没得折。国际性大企业的售后服务是没有国内厂家的好，但是操作规范，制度严谨，是国内企业没办法比的。在国外不是经常有人扔电器吗，原因不就是因为维修费太高吗。国外的手工费（人工费）比国内的高多了，所以有时修还不如买。

        虽然我对SONY也有不满意的地方，但我还是建议你们买SONY，确实，大公司的产品更有保障。

      如果是想让父母在国内用的话，建议你在国内买。款式、功能简单够用就行。最好的办法是看看邻居、朋友中哪种款式最普遍就买那种，这样老人用起来找个咨询的也方便。不光是制式问题，还有电池、电压、充电器、充电时间、连接转录线等等，都是‘农民’容易头疼的的，更甭提各种Mode的设置了。

      本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I didn't buy the digital camcorder because I have played digitally recorded video on my analog TV, frankly I can't tell the difference. The only plus for a digital camcorder is that you can grab digital pictures from the video. But I would rather save the money to buy a good digital camera.

      Some analog camcorder has "digital still" function. The video part is still analog, but it allows you to use it like a camera and take a low-resolution digital picture, and the price is about $200 higher. Don't buy this one! The picture quality not good at all. Again, you can buy a digital camera if you want digital pictures.

      Most current models have a view finder. (the flip-out viewer). This is handy, even more for elderly. Another feature is night vision. I don't know what kind of people like this, for videoing nocturnal wildlife or voyeurism? :-)

      For same features, Sony is about 10% more expensive than Panasonic/Canon, Panasonic is more expensive than JVC / Hitachi / Samsung. I think Sony is only good value when it has unique, must-have features for you. Otherwise the premium price might not be justified.       • I'm using Digital one(MiniDV) to make VCD of my son, the quality is so great, much better than VHS and 8mm(500+ lines vs. 240 lines). And with digital video files, you can edit them easily, -eglington(eglington); 2001-6-11 {169} (#97828@0)
        i.e. add sound tracks, cut/insert clips, add transitions, just like a TV professional! Yes, Digital Camcorder is not for making still images, it's for making fun video.

          • with S-video link, you can get 480+ line with most TVs(I remember, not sure). My VCD making procedure is: MiniDV -> 1394 cable and card -> AVI files in PC -> Adobe Premiere for editing -> Tmpgenc for Mpeg1(VCD) and Mpeg2(DVD) even Mpeg4 encoding -eglington(eglington); 2001-6-11 {456} (#97879@0)
            you can see, the better quality of the source video, the better qulity you can get from the result (VCD/SVCD/MiniDVD). There are bunch of website you can learn more information from, i.e. http://bg2000.myrice.com/ Follow it's hot links, you can reach many interesting websites. Now you can play VCD/SVCD with a player and watch it on TV. I'm trying to make MiniDVD, which has DVD quality and can be played by a DVD player, but it's using a CD-R media.
