Black Sabbath ------ an English rock band, formed in Birmingham in 1969.
Black Sabbath are cited as pioneers of heavy metal.The band helped define the genre with releases such as quadruple-platinum Paranoid, released in 1970. They were ranked by MTV as the "Greatest Metal Band" of all time, and placed second in VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock" list, behind Led Zeppelin. Deep Purple -------an English rock band formed in Hertford in 1968.
They are considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, although some band members claimed that their music cannot be categorised as belonging to any one genre. They were listed in the 1975 Guinness Book of World Records as "the globe's loudest band" for a 1972 concert at London's Rainbow Theatre,and have sold over 100 million albums worldwide,including 7.5 million certified units in the US. Deep Purple were ranked number 22 on VH1's Greatest Artists of Hard Rock programme.
Deep Purple are cited, along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, as pioneers of hard rock and heavy metal. The group have influenced a number of rock and metal bands including Metallica,Queen,Aerosmith,Van Halen, Alice in Chains,Pantera, Bon Jovi,Rush,Motörhead,and many New Wave of British Heavy Metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Def Leppard
