First and foremost, we would like to thank The Reverend Father Trevor Seath for his generous offering of using the church space for our meeting. Without his help we would be still searching for places.
Thanks are also due to Beth Meng and her husband for arranging the meeting place for the club, coordinating with the church about our activities, and their tremendous efforts in making the club meeting a pleasant one. We also thank Dave from the church for keeping the place clean and tidy.
The most highlight of the meeting was David Zhu's presentation on negotiation skills (see attached short version). David is a senior manager with one of the world's largest electronics manufacturers. The fact that David as a first generation immigrant from China, promoted quickly into such a senior position speaks all about his aptitude, capability and personal charm. David brought to the club members a new vision, BENTA negotiation approach, which will benefit our everyday life. David deserves a medal for his precious time spent with us on Saturday.
Another excellent presentation was delivered by Chunlei Zhao. As a senior engineer with OPG, Chunlei has in-depth knowledge of Ontario's Power Systems as well as how various types of powers are generated, transmitted and consumed. You won't have a better understanding of the electricity system until you have listened to Chunlei's talks.
A hot topic amongst our engineering community is how to obtain a licence in order to practice engineering in Ontario. Thanks to Alec Lin's excellent presentation, we are now a lot more clear with what the PEO requires as well as how we can prepare for it. Alec's presentation attracted so much interest that the discussions continued from the meeting to the Rolia website.
I am sure everyone has seen Frank Xu's contributions to the club meeting. Frank not only coordinated with speakers but also arranged for the offerings to the church. Thank you very much indeed, Frank.
