  • 5 things to know about the Commons motion on Islamophobia

    • Islamophobia: hatred or fear of Muslims or of their politics or culture. -Collins English Dictionary.

      According to this dictionary definition, the following behaviors are among those that will be "condemned by the government of Canada", and your data will be "collected by the governemnt of Canada", once M-103 passes:

      • Fear of Muslims' politics;
      • Fear of Muslims' culture.

      Do people have the right to fear certain things?

      If, unfortunatedly, some Canadians develop fear of Muslims' politics, why they have to be condemned by the government of Canada?

      • That’s why, according to this article, much of the debate focused on this word. Because it’s confusing, you get different answers from different sources, see below for some alternative definitions. +1

        Thus, some people suggest replacing it with “prefix anti-” instead. But regardless of which word to use, the more important question, for me at least, is that, should Islam be singled out as a religion in need of special protection? Or, maybe we should use a more general term to include all religions. I will leave that to the MPs.
