  • Indigenous women +1

    The Canadian Gov has observed that:

    Compared to the general population, Indigenous women are more likely than non-Indigenous women to be lone parents, to be young mothers, and to have larger families.

    To be politically correct,

    it doesn't address the issues in a clear, direct and straightforward way;

    it doesn't dig into the causes of such situation;

    it doesn't say whether such situation is good or bad;

    it doesn't have an initiative to prevent such situation from happening over and over.

    • I would say education is a very important factor that impacts women's lives. In addition,
      their traditional culture, spirit and values play important roles in their desires to pursue higher levels of education, and impact their life styles and life qualities accordingly. The different balance between their traditional mindset and new thoughts leads them to choose different levels of education, different life styles and qualities, when the tuition is not a problem at all.

    • I think if the indigenous women spend more years in schools and get higher education,
      then they will have less chance of becoming young mothers, but instead, they will have better chance of getting good jobs. If they get good jobs, then they will have to put more energy on their professional jobs and most likely they will have less energy on fertility and raising next generation. As such, for higher educated women, there is less chance to be a young mother and also less chance to build up a large family.
    • I haven't figured out why the indigenous women are more likely than non-indigenous women to be lone parents yet. Maybe this is one of the reasons: they got married or had common-law partners when they were too young,
      so that they were not mature enough to make right choices.
    • How to help them? Who can help them? Who will help them? These are big projects to be studied.
