    • They look like this.
      • Haha I never knew how they were called in Chinese. But probably that's the right one. They are called sunchokes.
    • Wow! Read the last paragraph in the link about this plant, you should get a good luck! 😆 Did you?
      • 😂 will see...
    • Sailor, how many years have you grown this type of plant or veggie for?
      • First year
    • Are you sure their name is Yang Jiang (Helianthus tuberosus)? They are from Fairies. Hahaha, that's why you are so interested in staying at the garden and growing vegetables there.😁😁😁
      • Not sure, but probably they are.
    • Yes, they are. See this link. +1
    • I just realized most likely I have this plant in my garden. I purchased the plant in a big pot (about $20) when it's almost blooming. And then I planted it into my yard with the original potting soil.
    • It's very easy to grow. I see the yellow flowers ( little sunflowers alike) every summer, and the flowers last much longer time comparing with other flowers. I do like this plant, but I never knew it's edible.
      • Mine didn't have a chance to flower. They got too tall, too tall to stay upright, before I cut them half in height.
    • I ate the roots for a few times many many years' ago when I was in China, +2
but I didn't know about its leaves and flowers. In Canada, (most likely) I have this plant in garden but I thought it's only a type of flower, but not a type of food. Good to know it. I will verify the one in my garden later. Thanks for sharing!
    • I had this (see picture) and later I have planted more of the yellow flowers at a different location.

      • Compare with the picture in this link.
        • Looks like what you had was a different plant?
          • Not sure yet. I will verify it later.
