本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I do costing for a manufacturing company. My understanding is that it is far beyond data entry. Yes, maintaining BOM or setting up cost collector in SAP is boring. (Fortunately, we don't have many new parts. I do this once in a while and it only takes me several minutes.) Even the monthly inventory evaluation is a typical routine job. However, before you submit the entries for approval, you still need to have a quick look of the data. If there are big changes caused other than quantity fluctuation, you need to drill down and find the answer. Have you prepared any costing exercises for quoting purpose? I guess currently you are not responsible for updating or improving costing model. Depending on how complicated the system is, It takes a year or so for one to fully grasp the concepts and reasoning. After that, ---- you have to move on. Once a costing model is set up, there isn't much left for one to improve. The managers don't want the changes either especially when this will substantially lower or increase the overhead rates thus the inventory value. ABC sounds good, but, ---. You know what I mean.

I also have the feeling that costing is relatively separated from other activities in the accounting department, so it may not be a good start if your career goal is Finance Manager. On the other hand I work closely with project managers and Marketing and Sales department and prepare various analysis which do enhance the so called problem solving skills and communication skills.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
