A knowledge base takes time to build.

Guess if you major in Finance or Economics at school, the best practice is to follow markets everyday. Watch CNBC, BNN, read WSJ, bloomberg, report on business section of GM. If you can devote 2 hours a day, 7 days a week, then 6 months later you will find yourself in a brand new stage in the financial world.

If not major in Fin or Eco, following markets can be painstaking, but upside reward is exciting. A disciplined approach is key. At the beginning, the commentaries you hear on CNBC or BNN may be bla bla bla, (that's what I had years ago), but as long as you persist, after 6 months you will be able to understand some part. 1 year later, you can understand most of it. 2 years later you can make your own judgment and choose your camp on controversial issues and/or debates.

Hope other people can provide good books to read.
