Rolia Privacy Policy
This privacy policy describes how we handle your personal information. We collect, use, and share personal information to help the Rolia.com website ("Rolia") work and to keep it safe (details below). In formal terms, Rolia is the "data controller" of your personal information. This policy is effective August 20, 2006.
Collection. Information posted on Rolia is obviously publicly available. Our servers are located in the United States and Canada. Therefore, if you choose to provide us with personal information, you are consenting to the transfer and storage of that information on our servers in the United States and Canada. We collect and store the following personal information:
- Membership information, including email address and physical contact information;
- computer sign-on data, statistics on page views, traffic to and from Rolia and ad data;
- other information, including users IP address and standard web log information.
Besides the above private information, all other information you provided in a classfied ad is publicly available. Use your discretion before you post an ad. Avoid providing privacy information in the ad if your are not sure or not comfortable to do so.
Rolia does not request or collect any financial information from user. The payment processing of all online transactions that occur between Rolia and the users is performed through trustable third party payment processor, such as PayPal.
Use. We use users' personal information to:
- provide our services
- resolve disputes, collect fees, and troubleshoot problems;
- encourage safe trading and enforce our policies;
- customize users' experience, measure interest in our services, and inform users about services and updates;
- communicate marketing and promotional offers to you;
- do other things for users as described when we collect the information.
Disclosure. We do not sell or rent users' personal information to third parties. We may disclose personal information to respond to legal requirements, enforce our policies, respond to claims that a posting or other content violates other's rights, or protect anyone's rights, property, or safety.
We may also share personal contact information with Rolia Cultural Association ("RCA"), a not-for-profit organization registered in Canada, if RCA utilizes the functions of Rolia for its community events or activities.
Using Information from Rolia. You may use information gathered from Rolia only to follow up with another user about a specific posting, not to send spam or collect personal information from someone who hasn't agreed to that.
Access, Modification, and Deletion. You can see or modify your personal membership information through the InfoMember Console. We retain personal information as permitted by law to resolve disputes, enforce our policies; and prevent bad guys from coming back.
Security. We use lots of tools (encryption, passwords, physical security) to protect your personal information against unauthorized access and disclosure, but as you probably know, nothing's perfect, so we make no guarantees.
General. We may update this policy at any time, with updates taking effect when you next post or after 30 days, whichever is sooner. If we or our corporate affiliates are involved in a merger or acquisition, we may share personal information with another company, but this policy will continue to apply.
