As you might expect, high-end sports and luxury cars are not listed here; but you might be surprised at what is.

Chevy's Camaro Z28 and Pontiac's Firebird Formula—hot cars in nearly everyone's book—top the list with 310 economy-priced horses going for just over $70 each in the Camaro, less than $78 per in the Firebird.

For around nine dollars more, Ford's Mustang GT Deluxe Coupe—another muscle car featuring a powerful V8—takes the fourth spot, with horses priced at $86.31 apiece.

In the number-nine spot at just under $93 per horse is the Toyota ECHO.

All in all, if it were actually possible to do so, you could buy ten horsepower—one from each of the cars on this list—and still pay less than you would for a single horse from the Rolls-Royce stable, whose Corniche thoroughbreds are the most loftily priced, at $1,087.97 per horse!

Here's the complete list of the top ten models available with the least-expensive horsepower:

Vehicle Horsepower Price Per Horsepower
1. Chevrolet Camaro 310 $70.56
2. Pontiac Firebird 310 $77.53
3. Kia Sephia 125 $79.96
4. Ford Mustang 260 $86.31
5. Kia Spectra 125 $86.36
6. Daewoo Lanos 105 $87.61
7. Daewoo Nubira 130 $87.68
8. Hyundai Elantra 140 $89.28
