A joke related to UML

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I have ever interviewed an IT guy on behalf of my present boss. He claimed he designed the whole project for his last employee.

I asked him what kind of tools you had used. He understood my English but it seemed to me he did not understood my question. I had to repeat my question. After some other questions, I found that he did not know the design.

Seasoned IT professionals know that Unified Modelling Language (UML) is a
langauge for project designing. In close relation to UML, there are dozens of design tools. Among them, Rational rose is the most famous. The newst version is Rose 2000, but Rose 98i is still widely used. One can
downlaod a trial version from www.rational.com. As I asked the guy what tool he used, he could not answer my question because he had not yet used any tool.

If you are an experienced person, many employeers hope you know UML and have hands-on experiences on Rational Rose.
If you claim you know design, but you don't know UML and Rose, nobody will belive your story.

In the establishment of UML, there are some
violent fighting between different methodology schools. Each school wants its theory and notations to be come a standard.
Nobody would like to give up his own methodology. Some people were even opposed to the standarlization. For this reason, there is a joke:

Q: What is the difference between a methodologist and a terrorist?

A: you can negotiate with a terrorist.

By the way, Rational Rose is the most influential tool. IF you have ever used GD-Pro
or similar tools, you may claim you know Rose. But you need first download a trial version and play for a couple of days.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
