Today when I was at school to pick up my daughter, I was told by Ms. XXX (her co-teacher) that my daughter was slapped on face by one of her classmates. I was so shocked by this incident. I want to state my thoughts and requests as follows:
1. This is obviously a serious bullying behavior. It is also an assault per s.265(1)(a) of Criminal Code. My daughter was hurt physically and psychologically. She may need psychological counseling.
2. I understand that XXX School is a zero tolerance to bullying school. I request a copy of anti-bully policies, guidelines, practices of educating students of what’s bullying, bullying prevention and the penalty of bullying, as well as the procedures of handling bullying incidents.
3. I request a report on the incident details. The statement of the details should be detailed and objective.
4. I request a formal disciplinary disposition to the students involved. The bullying student should be penalized according to the school policy taking consideration of the nature of his dangerous and humiliating behavior.
5. I need to know what measures the school will take to make sure my daughter will not be harassed or bullied at school in the future.
6. My daughter transferred to this school in September 2017. She struggled in the new environment and she made many efforts to fit into the class. She now gets along with classmates very well. This incident really hurts her and family. I hope you understand why I take the incident seriously.
