We pay half of income in tax, but they are not all used on public services, 40% is used to pay the interest for huge national debts. The country is losing competitive edge, manufacturing sectors, plants are moving out to low wage, low tax Mexico and China and others. Everything in shopping malls is made in China. Industry after industry are wiped out by cheaper foreign goods. Young people can not find decent jobs to lift them up. They can not earn enough income, learn enough skills by working at McDonald's. In the 70's, a father worked alone to comfortably support a family of six, childrens buy their own homes in their early 20s. Now, young people can only afford to live in their parent's basement, a couple has to both working to support one child. Decline in living standard is terrible. And it will only continue to go down.
