Caribana, the largest North American cultural celebration, hits Toronto every year with parades, extravagant costumes, music, food and boat cruises. The biggest draw is the parade, with up to 30 bands strutting their stuff as they compete for the title of Band of the Year.
This year's scheduled highlights include:


The Canadian Calypso Competition, July 28 ($25)

Caribana Junior Carnival, July 28 (free)

Caribana Gospel Festival, July 29 (free)

Pan Alive. July 29 (free)

King & Queen Showcase, August 2: ($20-$25) A close-up view of individual costumes featuring the crowning of the Kings and Queens of the Bands.

Latin Boat Cruise, Aug 3: ($45) A new addition to the Caribana line-up introducing Latin food, culture and music to the festival.
The Caribana Sunset Boat Cruise, August 3:($50) A Carnival-style boat cruise. A night of dress, food and flavours of the Caribbean.

Caribana Beach Fest -1st annual NBA Celebrity Beach Fest featuring invited guests such as Morris Peterson, Alvin Williams and Chris Webber. Aug 4: 8pm. Call: (416) 994-9850.

Caribana Parade of Bands,Aug 4: ($10-$15 for bandstand seating at CNE Stadium) The crown jewel of the festival.

Arts and Cultural Festival, August 5-6 (Adults: $15-$18, Seniors: $10, Children: $10) Showcasing the artists, foods and crafts unique to the Caribbean.
