Most of us can only be a programmer, so I suggest we not discuss these open questions ... because there are no absolute correct answers.

In IT industry, programmers are just like carpenters and plumbers, no matter how good your technology is.

C++, Java, UNIX and AS/400 can bring us an opportunity to earn some money. No need to
argue which one is superior, which one is inferior. We programmers do labor in IT industry.

If you are really good at making money, you just need to hire some competent people work for you. In USA, some professors just need to hire postdocs to work for them. If these postdoc make some breakthroughs,
the professor can get Nobel prize.

Before my present boss, I am always an employee. Once I have my own business,
I will be dominant. No bargain.

By the way, some archietects cannot code in C++. The only tool they master is Rational Rose. But they make top dollars.

I know a team leader. He manages 3 PhD and 2 MS. His job is to report to VP and
assigned the tasks among those PhDs and MSs.
