You grew up with your wife/girlfriend together. You were neighbors. You went to the same schools.... There is a wonderful Chinese idiom for this: Qing Mei Zhu Ma....

I don't know how to interpret it into English. Yesterday, I happened to read an article in the Washington Post. I saw a term ---"childhood sweetheart". I think this term can be used to convey the same meaning we understand in Chinese language...

Unfortunately, I seldom see a couple who were childhood sweethearts.
