"One" has many special usages. Here is another example. We may call kids the little ones. For instance, I may ask my teammates: "How about your little one? She is so cute!". In public, people may be aksed to take good care of your little ones.

Another terms I have heard frequently is " your beloved ones". For instance, insurance salemen may advise you to think about your beloved ones and buy some term life insurances.
