the following is some helpful message on immigration. I got it from the Consulate General of Canada in HK.

2.If there are no complications with medical examinations or background checks, and if requests we may have made for further documentation or information have been responded to promptly, we should within 2-4 months after receipt of all requested medical examination information be able to finalize cases and issue visas.

3.Applicants do not have to wait to be invited by the Consulate-General to undertake language testing. We encourage prospective applicants to undergo testing on their own initiative immediately prior to immigration application submission, and to submit originals of test results at the same time they submit their immigration applications. Following this procedure can even further "fast track" application processing.
