On the basis of amalgamation and restructuring, Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation (SBGC) was
established on Nov. 17, 1998 and currently has fixed assets of RMB 134.4 billion and a production capacity
of more than 18 million tons steel. SBGC consists of Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Baosteel Group
Shanghai No. 1 Iron & Steel Co., Baosteel Group Shanghai Pudong Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Baosteel Group
Shanghai No. 4 Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Baosteel Group Shanghai Maishan Co., Ltd., Baosteel Group
Shanghai No. 2 Iron & Steel Co. and dozens of Wholly-owned subsidiaries such as Baosteel Group
International Trade Corporation, Baosteel Group Technology & Engineering Co., Ltd., Baosteel Group
Business Development Co., Ltd., Baosteel Group Enterprise Development Co., Baosteel Group Software
Co., Ltd., and etc.
Within the next 3 to 5 years, SBGC will make itself into a superior steel production base of automobile
steel, oil tube, shipbuilding plate, stainless steel, silicon steel and high-efficiency construction steel, and
become an important base for the development of new process, new technology and new material. With its
strong competitiveness, SBGC will enter the rank of the world’s top 500 enterprises.
Due to the entry of China into the WTO, SBGC is very interested in inviting Toronto (Ontario)
professionals and Chinese students to participate the industrial and commercial development projects from
SBGC, including the business sectors of metallurgy, financing, securities, trade, accounting, statistics,
management, marketing, information technology, e-business, chemical industry, mining industry,
environmental protection and etc. During the forum, the Delegation of SBGC’s Human Resources
Development with 13 members will make a presentation on the project of personnel exchange &
recruitment and have a one-on-one personnel exchange & recruitment talks with Toronto professionals and
Chinese students.
