All apple trees are planted on dwarfing rootstock, which allows easy picking at harvest time as the the trees are only 6' tall on average.

The varieties of apples available and the approximate picking dates are:

McIntosh - end of August till middle of September
Spartan - middle of September till the end of September
Red Delicious - end of September till the middle of October
Golden Delicious - same as above
Cortland - same as above
Northern Spy - middle of October till the end of October
