The 1st student unlocks each lock, the 2nd student locks every second lock, the 3rd toggles every third lock, i.e. lock unlocked and unlock locked, ... the last toggled the last lock.. how many locks locked and unlocked?

What is the common feature of the locked/unlocked locks? Mathematically why?
