Singapore & Vancouver

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I have been working in Singapore for 5 years. Now I am in Vancouver. As my point of view, Canada is better than Singapore.

1. It's hard to get PR in Singapore and the trend is more difficult. I have applied Singapore PR for seven times during my five years working in Singapore. All applications have been rejected without any reasons. And SIR (Singapore Immigration and Registration) officers' arrogance humiliated me. I think their attitude to Chinese from mainland China is popular in Singapore.

2. Working in Singapore is very stressful. Although standard working time is 40 hours a week, almost every employees in my company stay in office from 9AM to 8PM everyday. Many of them work on weekend. It seems managers encourage their employees working unpaid overtime. Although monthly net income is higher in Singapore, if you count by your working time, the hourly based salary is lower than Vancouver.

3. Singapore's social security system is worse than Canada. My friend had a small operation in Singapore National hospital and he stayed in hospital only 1.5 days and the hospital fee (not include operation fee and medicine fee) is more than S$3,000. And the doctor's level is so so.

4. Singaporean's English is poor. They are talking Singlish instead of English. And they are very proud of their Singlish and alway correct spoken English for Chinese from mainland China, although they don't know phonetic symbols.

My suggestion is: if you are single and young, maybe Singapore is a good place of making money. But to married people (with/without children), Canada is definitely better place for you.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
