Power politics and banana republic

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛One friend asked why Jabber did not contribute some postings about the sematics of "very very sorry" invented by the Bush Administration. Here are some thoughts.

Personally, I believe in power politics and I believe that democracy, freedom and human rights are too big issues for me to think about. In the game of power politics, China is undoubtedly still a week part. I feel very very sorry that China is still not a super power. Fortunately, China can stiil be counted as a power country in the world. Otherwise, those defenders of democracy, freedom and humna rights had already sent their peace-keeping troops to China.

Some ladies may have experiences in shopping at Banana Republic. Politically, this term stands for those small countries in South America, such as Dominica and Honduras. They produce a staple of bananas but their economy is controlled by USA and European companies. In the trade war, you can even hear something that sounds like European bananas. Bu such fruits actually are planted in South America....

I love these words: national interest, power politcs. Today, Russia is China's strategical partner because it shares common interest with China. On the other hand, the United Nations and NATO peace-keeping force did not enter Russia because they don't want to be nuclear bombed.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
