I once have a Cyrion(? sorry, I cannot remember the name, it's acquired by intel) and cannot install Solaris.

Then I went to a computer part store to buy another computer, where I met a guy who was really good at hardwares. He told me so and selected all the parts for me. The new computer met no problem with Solaris. After several years, when I bought still another computer myself, I chose a wrong motherboard, which did not support Pentium III CPU. I changed it for a much more expensive one and the computer got perfect.

My opinion is: if you plan to install Solaris, you'd better choose the most expensive parts. And make sure you can change them if they doesn't work.
