He is from Hongkong. He has only 3.5 years of experiences. His resume is not very attractive. We hire hime for the following reasons
1) He has a good understanding of the technologies that he listed on his resume
2) His personality is so pleasant. In the second interview, I asked two tough questions to see if he feel annoyed, but he behave so gracefully that he led a warm discussion about the questions.
3) He is sort of person who can evaluate technologies. We assumed the following scenario. We have an INTRANET. We want to use IE browser to communicate with server, on the one hand, and launch some Windows application on the client side FROM WITHIN browser, on the other hand. His suggestion is to use Active X. I asked him if we can use Java technology and he answered "We can try to use Applets." More importantly, he poined out that security is probably an issue we need to investigate. Finally, I add one more candidate----"Java Web Start". Though he has only 3.5 years of experiences, he elegantly commented
the advantages and disadvantages of these thee technologies: Active X, Applets, Java Web Start. Of course, not all of his words are correct. But he successfully demonstrated his ability.
