70 years ago today, Canadian soldiers, together with allied forces, began a brutal ten-week battle against a powerful enemy. Cdn troops made it furthest inland that day, and the Allied forces were ultimately successful. But it came at a cost (340 Canadians gave their lives, and another 574 were wounded).
