Lauren Phillips author and collaborator for renowned Lifestyle magazine and website Coastal Living, tells us how a piece of colorful coral found in the white sand of Tulum, became the inspiration behind one of the most spectacular weddings this little town had ever seen.

The colors of this vibrant wedding in Tulum, Mexico, all started with a single piece of red coral. Designers Regina Crosby-Atkins and Krista Jon of Crosby + Jon Design found the coral while working in Tulum, on the Caribbean side of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, and used it as inspiration for Bhaji Illuminati and Chris Tourtellotte’s April 2016 destination wedding in that same romantic locale.

“The bride wanted a lot of color and she was really brave in letting us go wild with it,” Crosby-Atkins said. Look to the bride’s bouquet and the bridesmaids’ dresses for the full color scheme: a warm palette of red, orange, mustard yellow, and gold. Crosby-Atkins and Jon let the ocean play its own part in the color scheme, and its cool tones offered a vivid contrast to the wedding’s rosy colors.
