apparently, East Asians constitute the vast majority of elite-college applicants, they also account for more than 20% of world population, I don’t think it’s wise to base admission strictly on academics, student diversity is very important, IMO. As pointed out in the article, “how colleges go about pursuing that diversity is what’s so contentious", and it seems that there is not a simple & fair way of doing that.
