The members of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and the Certified General Accountants of Ontario have voted in support of unification of the accounting profession in Ontario.
Voting results were announced at the respective Special General Meetings held by both CPA Ontario and CGA Ontario the afternoon of June 18, 2014.
CGAs will become members of CPA Ontario in early July.
Members of CMA Ontario voted last year in support of unification and became members of CPA Ontario in April, 2014.
CPA Ontario’s more than 80,000 members now join their colleagues across the country, bringing all 185,000 members together under the CPA designation, with one set of standards and one voice in support of its membership and the public interest.
CPA Ontario will seek a Chartered Professional Accountants Act from the Province of Ontario as soon as possible.
