For the past 3 years, she has been to the overnight camp up north, close to Algonquin park, Muskoka area. There are many of them, traditional summer camp and specialist camp as well.

Her first camp was a competitive swimming camp with swimming and dry-land training, very strict, no care package, only one phone call made to her during her two week's stay.
Second year, she went to two different camps, both are traditional.
I think for the coming many years, I will be sending her to the same camp , the same session because most of her camp friends would join the same session too.
Another reason for sending her to that particular camp is that I want her to get tougher. Throw her to this situation, to work within a group in a very rough environment, it is a good lesson for her to learn how to deal with difficult people. There are a few in her sessions and on the trip as well.
Most of her camp mates are from Ontario, but there are two girls from US and one from England for the whole 8 weeks.

    本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛今天开了600 公里往返，终于把在寄宿夏令营2周的大女儿接回了家。女儿可以说是夏令营VETERAN 了，今年是递三年了， 不同的是7岁的小妹妹和姐姐一同参加了寄宿CAMP, 妹妹只是1个星期，姐姐是俩个，而且姐姐也会参加一个4天3夜的CANON TRIP. 天公不作美，北边又是下雨又是冷，让我这当妈的着实惦记！
    上星期6去接妹妹的时候满心希望能见到姐姐，却被告之大女儿已经于周五出发去 ALGONQUIN PARK CANON TRIP 去了。上周6可是倾盆大雨啊。
    今天终于知道了女儿CANON TRIP 的细节。四天有三天是下雨的。周6 姑娘们在大雨中划船4小时，PORTAGE 1 小时到达营地。还好睡袋和衣服都装在DRY SAG 里面，没有淋湿。SLEEPING MAT 也是防水的，至少睡觉时不时湿漉漉的。Camp Consellor 忘记了炉子和卫生纸，生食没法做，孩子们只好将带的食物平均分好（ 只有面包，PITA 之类），所以食物减半，没人只能分到1 X PITA PER MEAL. 她连1米6 还不到，又小又瘦。。。比别的孩子矮一头，居然可以单人PORTAGE 1 km。
    She was so pleased with herself and she could not wait to go back next year because next year's trip will be 5 days 4 nights. Now she is more at ease dealing with anybody and she is really confident.

      One thing to remember is that your kids need to be outdoorey to enjoy most of the overnight camp, especially the one my daughter went. A 4 day Canon trip is not a small thing. Your team has to get to the camp site by certain time to set up the tent, cook, wash etc. Everyday there is a big information session on overnight camp. Strongly suggest to those who are interested, to attend and ask questions, meet the camp operator etc.
