To my knowledge (very little), QC still has some textile factories, mostly making garment. I don' t know if there is any yarn processing factories though. Are you familiar with synthetic fiber process, e.g. polyester, nylon?

As these processes are chemical engineering or polymer engineering focused, to be more accurate, you may have a good chance switching to petroleum industry.

Not my major, but got involved in my previous life. Know a little bit about the process of making wool, cotton and polyester yarn and fabirc. My advise is to stay away from textile major if you are in Canada, as the field is shrinking. -dreamplace(小胖); 2006-3-23 (#131@38)
