It depends on what kinds of stocks you trade. If you trade penny stocks, then you're right. If you trade stocks like apple or rimm, then I would say IB is cheaper.

IB can trade Forex, options, futures, stocks all in one account. And if you want to buy US stocks and do not have US funds there, you do not need to buy US dollars. at least TDW does not allow you buy US stocks if you have only canadian funds.
