Absolutely. What bothers me most at this moment is how to get my foot in the door, with a Chinese MBA+CFA+teaching/research experience? Very frustrated. Please share tips.

I got my MBA around 9 years ago from a Sino-German program and worked for 4 years as a university Instructor specializing in Corporate Finance in China ( I presume this experience can meet the required work experience by CFA institute). I came to Canada in 2003 and started working in an Administrative role in a community college. I passed level III this June (thank God) and hope this may help me get back to my field. If you or someone you know in your networking are looking for someone with such a background, kindly let me know at zyxdm@yahoo.ca. I'll be more than happy to fill you in with more details about my background. Thanks in advance.

  • Looking for regular member of Toronto CFA society to sponsor CFA charter application. Thanks.
    • Well, if you're looking for someone to sponsor your CFA Institute membership, then you should tell us more about yourself.
      • University Instructor specializing in Corporate Finance. No Canadian work experience in this field and actively job-searching. Any help and advice are highly appreciated.

      • Please shed some light on where and what the entry-level CFA jobs are?
        • There's no 'entry-level CFA job'. CFA is not supposed to do entry-level job.
But the reality in Toronto, there's not much 'senior' or 'suitable' job for CFA, unless you are already in the industry and use CFA as a leverage to move on or get promotion.

Using CFA just to knock the door open on Bay street can be very hard, particularly at this moment.

Try get to know some guy from CFA society and see if anyone may help, search job postings on their web; work with agents, send as many resumes as you see fit. need patience and luck
    • i already applied for membership, if i get it, i could be your sponsor if possible.
      • Thank you in advance. I'll be more than happy to provide you more details about my background if you can contact me at zyxdm@yahoo.ca.
        • welcome. I still need to wait at least two weeks for the decision from CFA. I will pm you after that.
          • No hurry. The charter is not of much help at this moment as I'm still struggling to get the foot in the door.
