Do it here. The Role: We are looking for Software Engineers who specialize in backend development (application layer, middle layer, and APIs). An ideal candidate has great knowledge of either C# and Microsoft .NET, or Java and the JVM platform stack. Every day, you will work with team members across disciplines in product development (Engineering, QA, Project Management, Product Management, etc.). You’ll interact daily with our product managers to understand our domain and create technical solutions to execute our strategic business and technology initiatives. You will participate in agile ceremonies such as standups, retrospectives, and planning meetings.  We prefer for this position to be in our Toronto office, but will consider candidates working remotely in Canadian provinces where Morningstar is registered to conduct business. Have or desire to become an AWS certified developer Help to shape product vision Qualifications A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field in software development with 2+ years of experience. Highly motivated individual with the potential and desire to learn new technologies and take on increasing levels of responsibility. Proficiency in the following one of two Programming Languages: Advanced knowledge of C# and the Microsoft .NET Stack. Solid experience with Entity Framework, LINQ. Solid experience with Java and the JVM ecosystem. Familiarity with Spring Boot, Spring, SQL. Experience in Web APIs, MVC, Dependency Injection, Asynchronous programming. Experience with supporting technologies: Databases (SQL Server, AWS Aurora, MySQL, Postgres), Python, REST API’s Proven knowledge of enterprise software concerns such as security, scalability, transaction management, and concurrency. Must be able to write quality unit tests. Demonstrable experience architecting and building solutions hosted on AWS. An understanding of how to protect software solutions from common security vulnerabilities. Exposure to and understanding of DevOps with tools like Jenkins. Knowledge of object-oriented design, domain modeling, design patterns, and building highly scalable and available systems. Experience working within a scrum-based methodology.
