Another one: SAP BASIS Administrator

I have a requirement with one of my clients for a SAP BASIS
Administrator
described as follows:

I. POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION: SAP Basis Administrator
Reports to: Director, Technology Services
Department: Corporate Information Technology

II. POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for supporting the SAP technical
environment at
the operating system, database and the technical application level. The
Basis Administrator will install and maintain the SAP software, Oracle
database, the operating system and other system software. This position
will
also be responsible for the SAP Transport Management, performance
tuning,
system management, system upgrades, creating and maintaining security
objects and implementing and testing system backup and recovery.

This position functions under general supervision using considerable
initiative within guidelines received from the Director of Technology
Services.


III. QUALIFICATIONS (Education; Experience; Technical; Managerial
Skills)

Education and Experience

University degree in Computer Science or equivalent
education/experience.

Ideally (7) to twelve (12) years experience in Information Technology
including at least Four (4) years experience with SAP Basis
administration,
Architecture design and system management.

Good knowledge of UNIX is required with AIX experience preferred.

Oracle Database administration.

Knowledge of SAN (Storage Area Network) and IBM's Tivoli Storage
Management
would be an asset.

Should have application support experience and SAP ABAP familiarity.

General knowledge of other operating systems such as Novell Netware and
Windows NT is also a requirement.

Interpersonal Skills:

Requires excellent communication and documentation skills

Ability to provide a high level of Customer Service.

Ability to liaise effectively with all employees at both the staff and
executive levels.

Ability to manage multiple projects.

Ability to develop and present formal presentations.

Ability to provide leadership and training for others.

Ability to function effectively as a team leader, team facilitator and
team
member.


V. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform SAP software installation, upgrades and hot pack application.

Implementation and support of the SAP system landscape including
database
servers, application servers, bolt-on hardware and presentation client
architecture.

Implementation and support of SAP instances; basic configuration, R/3
router, logon groups, printing and archiving.

Implementation and support of the SAP security architecture.

Implementation and support of SAP operational environment including job
scheduling, capacity planning, performance tuning and system
monitoring.

Implementation and support SAP correction and transport system (TMS).

Ensure changes are performed within change control process for the
application and architecture.

Maintenance of the SAP Technical Operations Manual

Provide support to the SAP application team during development and
implementation.

Act as the interface to the SAP Online Service System, and the SAP
technical
support staff.

Support the development architecture to production standards.
