Several technical analysts have suggested an intermediate technical target of $1,300 U.S. after a breakout for gold. A trigger for a move of that magnitude could be the sale of 403 tommes of gold held by the IMF to the Chinese. This gold has acted as a technical overhang that limited upside potential in recent months. Given comments by China’s Vice President yesterday, the sale could happen soon.
