For long term hold, 现在应该是good entry point. 0.25%的rate hike基本上已经priced in。对于financial比重不大的portfolio, 现在不妨买入。我个人financial比重较大,所以没有什么动作。

IMO, financial stocks are big NO NO at this time. No one knows how much impact the U.S. housing market and mortgage problems will have on Canada. The U.S. financial stocks are in big troubles now. I don't think Canada can do very well on its own.

It is too early to say that the subprime issues are contained. If you really like financial stocks, I recommend ING, IBN or BBD.I doesn't like U.S. financial stocks since they are in trouble. I don't like Canada ones since there won't be any M&A among big banks. IBN and BBD have good growth potential while ING has excellent dividend. There is also possibility that it gets acquired by other banks.

Sorry, I am not familiar with insurance companies.

thanks.I'll look into ING. For icici, there have been so many negative customer feedbacks on public forums so don't think I'll go for it as a conservative investment tool.

ICICI's major business is in India. You need to look at this company from an investor's point of view since you are looking for investment opportunities not banking services.

but if lots of people don't like its service, will its growth be sustainable?

Its growth is in India. Just like Chinese can stand the bad services provided Chinese banks, Indian must be more tolerant North Americans.Looking from another aspect, it means ICICI has a lot of room for improvement. Imagine if they can convert the unhappy customers into happy ones, which will happen?

No problem, we come here for chating, not grammar correcting...:-) You've got some point, but at this moment I'm looking for some long term, predictable, dividend gaining opportunities, businesses from developed countries sound to be better choices...Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I learned a lot.
