FINGERPRINT TECHNICIAN, ETOBICOKE, ONTARIO, MATERNITY LEAVE REPLACEMENT, FIXED-TERM CONTRACT (FULL-TIME) We are currently looking to backfill a fingerprint technician position on a fixed term contract (June) for a duration of approximately 12 to 13 months. Work week would be approx. 33 to 40 hours/week including some Saturdays.
Main responsibilities and required experience/competencies are outlined below:
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Determine the type of service applicants require
Perform electronic and/or ink and roll fingerprinting services according to the nature of the application and provincial or federal legislative requirements (e.g. citizenship, permanent residency, employment, immigration, US waivers, etc.)
Ensure that scanned fingerprints along with the application details are formatted into a standardized electronic package and sent to the Morpho server for transmission to RCMP’s Canadian Criminal Real Time Information System (CCRTIS) in a timely manner
Ensure inked fingerprint forms/cards are properly completed using the available software and fingerprints are properly placed on the form/card, as required
Complete the required application form for name check applicants in accordance with company policy and forward to appropriate location for verification to be completed
Return inked fingerprints to client with instructions as to where to send fingerprints, as appropriate
Verify customer identification per RCMP policy
Receive and reply appropriately to client requests for all facets of the card scanning process – start procedure, perform card scanning of inked cards, process payments, and submit record to RCMP; arrange shipment of completed files, process and file all completed documentation associated with each card scan package in accordance with RCMP regulations/requirements
Successfully and accurately complete required biometric and data capture processes and paperwork on each customer
Demonstrate an understanding of proper procedures for fingerprinting and/or enrolling applicants according to multiple commercial, provincial and/or federal requirement standards
Maintain current knowledge of rules and regulations, policies and procedures and statutes governing security and privacy of record information in order to process and manage information accurately and appropriately
Keep abreast of changes in legislative requirements (i.e. domestic and foreign)
Validate information entered in various databases – correct data entry errors in order to safeguard the quality and integrity of the information
Follow up with applicants when results are received from police services as appropriate
Provide superior customer service to all clients – attend counter and telephone requests, assess customer needs, ask appropriate questions, offer sound advice, guidance and expertise to clients with respect to documentation required for successful and timely completion of application and ensure that all questions/ issues are identified and brought to a complete resolution
Up sell related services to customers as appropriate
Collect processing fees, issue receipts and complete daily cash deposits
Collaborate with other team members to identify and implement process improvement opportunities
Represent the company in a credible and positive manner – ensure office is welcoming to customers and reflects professionalism and efficiency
Travel to client location to conduct mobile fingerprinting and identification services as required
Perform basic maintenance and troubleshoot issues with fingerprinting equipment, including hardware and software
Adhere to all company policies – especially requirements pertaining to security and confidentiality of information
Perform administrative duties such as time keeping, shift schedules, daily activity reports, inventory and requisitioning supplies
EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES
High school diploma required as a minimum
Proven communication skills – both verbal and written
Bilingual (English/Mandarin or Cantonese) is mandatory
Prior experience in customer service, retail sales or immigration-related roles would be preferred
Strong listening skills – ability to identify customer needs and requirements
Must be successful in qualifying for and maintaining any security clearance requirements
Computer skills – good working knowledge of Microsoft office
