    • Nice to read your post again. That is right. We don't need to focus on the bright spot of somebody to worship him. But still we need some kind of role model. No role model is a lost of modern society.
    • I never know how poor the chinese students in Canada are. but, how about Canadian students?
      • As far as I know, Canadian students at that time are no weathier, but
        1. they have more source for funding: there are many sources of funding for them, the Citizen (or PR);

        2. They do not need to pay the outstanding tuition fee which is for foreign students only.

        2. Most of them are sponsored by some Canidian agencies. One of my
        clasmates for Ph.D is from the Canidian air force and the government
        paid all his expense, including the usage of Air Force utility for experoements;

        3. Unlike us, they do not have a sense of insecurity so money is thought
        as a cushion. They spent whatever they earned or they have.

        4. If they use up all they have, they can find a job easily. They can come back to schoool if they think they have enough.
    • 是原创吗? 很受启发.
    • 帮朋友问个问题,在加拿大读研究生如何更换导师,请有此经验的朋友帮忙出出主意啊。
      现在遇到的问题是:一开始与两个教授同时联系过,其中一个回复得较早,于是先就跟了他,接触以后感觉虽然他人很好,很耐心,但他水平有限,而且一时还没有钱。另外一个回复得较晚,但他的专业水平较高,手里项目较多,但是他很忙,指导学生的时间不多。
      该如何选择呢?如果选择后者,又该如何回绝前面一位导师,怎么样做才比较妥当?只希望找到一个好导师,谢谢!
