This is totally exploitation. Annoying people by knocking their doors is not fun; walking 12 hours a day makes you exhausted. You get no return with your contribution. The employer is taking advantage of new immigrants! As far as selling utility concerned, no matter Ontario Energy Savings, Toronto Hydro, Direct Energy, Union Gas or Embridge Consumers Gas, they are all just as bad as each other.
