  • Amazon.ca Visa is still sanctioning Myanmar +1

I found myself could not access the online banking website of Amazon.ca Visa card.  It has been 3 days, I have not been able to check my transaction history.  Eventually I decided to call the customer service.

To my surprise, I was told that Amazon.ca Visa did not allow customers to use it in Myanmar.  Also the online banking website blocks internet access if it's from Myanmar.

I just couldn't understand the reason.

I asked the representive that what other countries were also sactioned by Amazon.ca Visa.  The answers are:  Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria...

As I noticed and mentioned before, there are lots of international involvements in Yangon right now.  Myanmar had started its democratical changes since a couple years ago.  Apparently Amazon.ca Visa's sanction is out-of-date.

    • Myanmar is still a military controlled country, I don’t think their leader, the Nobel prize winner, can do much to change that. +2
      • It's an unfair label to Myanmar. I've been to both a big city and a rural area, the society is tolerating and liberal. The bottom line: Any governments not blocking Google must not be labeled as "military government".
