The difference lies on the joints. With enough practice, the joints become very flexible. At this point I'm able to put on foot behind my neck, but couldn't stand up.

  • I hope one day I can do it too! #yoga

    • That's really a very hard posture! I wouldn't believe the upper leg is a regular one with bones inside. +1

        • Wa! That's not easy! How long have you practiced yoga for ?
          • 7 years.
            • how long will it take to do mermaid pose?
              • You need to show me first what a mermaid pose is like.
                • Please google yoga mermaid pose,
                  • I see. This is one of the many poses that I cannot do. :(
    • How do you keep yourself focusing on yoga but not distracted by things from busy work or busy life, when you practice yoga by your own but not with a group or following a coacher? I mean how to get enough patience and keep your mind on yoga.
      • Yoga itself has a great charm that drives me to do it regularly. The feeling that you have made a progress, your body becomes more capable, and your energy gets purer, is very encouraging!
        • I see. Thanks!
      • I am a beginner. If you concentrate on yourself, your pose, your breath, it is easy to focus. +1
        • Agree. Mute the phone and put it away when you are practicing.
        • Thanks. Do you learn yoga directly from a coacher or learn yoga from a video or youtube by yourself?
          • I started to practice yoga with an instructor in my company during breaktime, +1
after a while I stopped because I did not get benefits from it. The instructor change the contents everytime, I could not remember all the yoga poses she taught. Now I practice yoga following the YouTube video, Yans Yoga. You can start with the one for beginner. Yan said you can follow the video for 6 months. I also go to a Saturday class, it is organized by a Chinese community.
            • According to your experience, in how many hours or how many weeks of practicing people usually can sense or feel their progress obviously so that they are encouraged to continue practicing yoga regularly and to advance?
              • I have practiced for 1 year. After several weeks I felt relaxed and stretched. I do it every other day. You can make progress according to your own pace, +1
compare with yourself and not with others. You will find inner peace too. I was always depressed during the winter time, now the feeling is gone.
                • Good to know. Thank you, Jane!
                • That's so true. If you have inner peace, you don't care anything that bothers you from outside.
              • If you do it without any expectation, but simply regard the practice/class as a time dedicated for your body and mind, you'll enjoy it more.
                • Good encouragement, thanks!
            • If it's a lead class, you don't need to remember the sequence of poses. Just follow the instructor. Over time you will get to know a lot variation.
              • Nice tips. Thanks!
