  • Rolia Cultural Association Announces the Youth Leadership Program +1

    The Rolia Cultural Association Youth Leadership Program (RCA YouLeaP) focuses on the development of leadership skills and teamwork spirit.  It provides volunteering positions for students aged 15 to 21 years old.

    Why take it?

    - Develop valuable leadership skills, communication skills, and many more.
    - An opportunity to work in a purely volunteer-driven organization.
    - Receive guidance from experienced community volunteers
    - Develop skills through cultural events- A variety of opportunities to meet your personal interests
    - Be nominated for the Ontario Volunteer Service Award when you qualify

    What will you do?

    From now to February of 2015, the RCA YouLeaP will be focusing on preparation of the 2015 Rolia Gala.

    You will typically work in a team together with other volunteers, to complete certain assignments or tasks, or to carry out certain duties.  Some position examples are:  Act leads, Graphic Designer, Crew leads, etc.

    Responsibility will be detailed in position descriptions.

    How many hours?

    There volunteering hours differ.  Some positions may require more hours while some require less.

    RCA will provide reference letter for the volunteering work and hours you have contributed.

    About the Rolia Gala

    Starting in 2001, the Rolia Gala is an annual stage performance event in the Greater Toronto Area.  Same as RCA, the Rolia Galas are prepared by volunteers.  From performers to supporting crew to key organizers, everyone volunteers for this exciting show with talent, enthusiasm, and passion.

    About RCA

    Rolia Cultural Association is a registered not-for-profit organization.  It serves the community through cultural events and activities.  The Rolia Galas have been rece

    iving greeting letters from the Prime Minister of Canada.  38 RCA volunteers have received the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards through RCA's nomination.

    Positions will be announced on the Rolia Forum (http://www.rolia.net/lf/).  You will submit your resume to info@rolia.org.  RCA Youth Leadership coordinator will contact you.

      Volunteering opportunities:  Act Leads

      The 2015 Rolia Gala is currently being prepared.  We are looking for youth volunteers as act leads to participate in this exciting event!

      About the 2015 Rolia Gala

      Performance date: January 24, 2015
      Shows: Afternoon Show (3pm) and Evening Show (7:30pm)
      Venue: Markham Theatre for Performing Arts (Warden & Hwy 7)

      Responsibility:

      - Lead an act to be performed on the stage
      - Recruit team members for the act; Attend act audition in early November
      - Independently lead the rehearsal and preparation of the act.
      - Participate in official dry-runs
      - Perform on the stage on January 24, 2015.
      - Lead related activities of the team members after the show date
      - Act as liaison between RCA and your team members

      Requirements

      We are looking for students of 15 to 21 years old, who are willing to take responsibility, to develop leadership and communication skills.

      What you will receive

      - A valuable practical experience, together with the skills you developed, which will be life-long beneficial. 
      - RCA will provide reference letter for the volunteering work and hours you have contributed.
      - RCA will nominate qualified youth volunteers for the Ontario Volunteer Service Award
