Amazon jungle, since it’s mainly tropical rainforest, other than bus tour, I wouldn’t be surprised if there are activities like bird-watching, jungle trek, canoeing, etc, sounds like lots of fun.

  • Riding from the high land into Amazon

In the morning, a view of Quito from the hostel's rooftop restaurant.

Leaving for the bus station.  A view of an old town street.

This colorful bus is what I'm taking.

I enjoyed VIP treatment for one hour--as the only passenger!

Do you notice a snow cap in the far end?

    And that's another one

Wow, snow cap on the Equator!

The following photos show how the view changes as the bus goes from the high land into the tropical jungle area.

On the right, it's an oil pipeline.  Yes, Ecuador is also an oil country.  It's hard to keep the balance between economy and nature. :(

School kids take this long distance bus home after school.  The little ones ride for free. :)

In the afternoon, starting to experience jungle weather:  showers.
